LUMINEX SOFTWARE, INC. today announced the Luminex Synchronous Tape Matrix (STM™) feature for its Mainframe Virtual Tape (MVT™) and Channel Gateway X™ (CGX™) solutions. Luminex STM provides multiple data centers in campus or metro regions support for active-active tape operations, with continuous availability and redundancy.

Designed for the largest and most complex mainframe data centers, Luminex STM continues Luminex’s leadership in performance, scalability and resiliency with true continuous availability, providing the industry’s most advanced technology for managing mainframe tape operations. In addition to complete data path redundancy between the mainframe and storage, any failures or outages of storage systems, network paths, or any component will automatically recover with no mainframe intervention and assured data integrity. Luminex’s unique synchronous storage mirror technology provides the underlying functionality to ensure continued operations for the industry’s widest available range of infrastructure failure scenarios.

“Luminex has now extended its product leadership with this new STM capability”, said Arthur Tolsma, CEO. “As the largest mainframe customers have demanded choice and flexibility without compromise, we continue to listen and have again delivered.”

With the release of Luminex STM, there is now an architecturally superior active-active virtual tape solution for the mainframe community. The Luminex solution brings a highly competitive and cost effective solution to a market that was traditionally bound by proprietary solutions. Luminex STM is designed to seamlessly integrate with Luminex’s disaster recovery and cloud storage solutions.

The Luminex STM solution has been designed and tested in conjunction with large, well known data center customers. General availability is expected during the third quarter of 2013.
