Joel has 33 years of experience in mainframe storage sales and marketing, with the last 12 years in Executive Management positions for StorageTek, Sun Microsystems and Oracle Corporation. Joel’s vast industry experience and expertise combined with his management leadership skills add key capabilities to LUMINEX’s management team. Joel joins LUMINEX’s recent hires of leading mainframe sales and sales engineering professionals.
In December 2011, LUMINEX hired Mitch Mackrory and Mark Beard as Sales Engineers and Bob Shapiro as Southeast Region Executive Sales Manager, adding to the Company’s impressive roster of mainframe solutions expertise.

Mitch Mackrory brings over thirty years of international pre- and post-sales professional engineering experience to LUMINEX, with a focus on mainframe virtual tape, business continuity and disaster recovery. Mitch has worked in various technical support capacities for StorageTek in South Africa, New Zealand and the United States and for Sun Microsystems and Oracle in the United States. Mitch is the prime inventor on three patents relating to Virtual Tape business continuity and disaster recovery scenarios.
Mark Beard has more than thirty-six years of increasingly responsible information technology positions, including direct storage sales, pre- and post-sales technical support, and management in the storage, virtual tape and disaster recovery markets with the State of Illinois, StorageTek, Sun Microsystems and Alliance Technology Group.
Bob Shapiro is LUMINEX’s new Southeast Region Executive Sales Manager. Bob has thirty plus years experience as a highly successful mainframe solutions sales professional, the majority of which were in various positions with IBM Corporation. Bob has a proven track record in mainframe virtual tape sales and managed services sales with emphasis in the health and life sciences, finance and communications industries.
