Luminex Software, Inc., a leading developer of mainframe connectivity and virtual tape products, announced today at the SHARE Technology Exchange Expo that it has partnered with Terasystem S.p.A., the largest data storage system integrator in Italy, as its full service channel partner for its ground breaking Channel Gateway products in Italy, Spain and Portugal. Terasystem has already completed multiple proof-of-concept installations and first customer sales of Luminex’s Channel Gateway in Italy.
Based on the success of pilot programs to some of its largest financial customers in Italy, Terasystem has formed a dedicated sales, marketing and customer support team to market the Luminex solution to the entire base of mainframe customers in Italy, Spain and Portugal. The Luminex solution has been in operational use for many months and Terasystem now has a growing base of satisfied customers along with great reference sites.
The Channel Gateway delivers virtual tape emulation for the z/OS, z/VM and z/VSE mainframe operating environments. The Channel Gateway presents storage solutions including NAS, Fibre Channel, and iSCSI to the mainframe as 3480, 3490 and 3590 tape drives while leveraging advanced capabilities such as data de-duplication and remote replication. Mainframe tape backup and recovery, storage management and data sharing applications work without modification with the Channel Gateway enabled storage.
